I went for my first pregnancy ultrasound at 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I'm not too worried however because it is so early and the ultrasound machine...I had the same. Lost the baby at 6 weeks. No heartbeat at the first appointment. It is uncommon for that situation to not be a miscarriage. 6.4 weeks scan no heartbeat. Hi, everyone. I had my first ultrasound at 6.4 weeks, baby only 4mm and no heartbeat. I was devastated. Doctor was quite insensitive she said if in one week would not find any heartbeat it would definitely be a miscarriage. My next scan is booked for next Wednesday but I am struggling to find peace and calm.

I'm still in the early stages, but at my clinic, they don't do heartbeat check until 7w4d or after because by then, the heartbeat should be there and audible. It can show up early, but by then, the doctor will have a definite answer as to what's going on with baby (without giving mom anxiety).
