Strategy: Use TB and Enraged Throw to add twice your Str mod to thrown weapon's attack rolls and thrice your Str mod to their damage. (Yes, "thrice" is a word.)

Bard is perhaps the strongest class in BG3. A 2 fighter/10 college of swords bard is godmode. Go straight bard until level 8, respec as fighter 2/bard 6, then go all bard the rest of the way. This gets you archery fighting style, con prof (helps concentration checks), all armor,weapon, shield profs, and action surge.You need the crossbow expert feat in addition to the previously mentioned sharpshooter feat which we take in bg3, as crossbow expert is the only way to actually get the bonus action crossbow attacks in 5e. In bg3, this build can be up to 4 attacks at as low of a level as 8 with 5 levels in any martial and 3 levels in thief rogue.

Nothing is better than the Bard at this. Cha focus, Expertise, lots of spells. Zariels smites are just okay, Thaumaturgy is the real MVP meaning I can reliably intimidate. Swords Bard doesn't get Haste on level 5, you'd need 1 Wizard level and learn it from scroll. But even without Haste level 4 Bard is not enough for this build. I ran both a dual crossbow/thief bard and titanstring gloomstalker/assassin in my second honour run. Gloomstalker was worse on Raphael, Ansur, Netherbrain, Steel Watchers, Ethel, and Myrkul phase 2. It shined on Viconia, Mystic Carrion, Lorroakan, Gortash, and Yurgir. But the only harder fight in that group is Viconia.

With bard / monk you will suffer from having too many stats to invest in. You will need high dexterity, constitution, charisma and wisdom. Four stats is a few too many. I'd suggest you might want to try the monk elemental subclass. That's designed to give you a few spell like powers alongside the monk abilities.
