Vines are best for leveling a horses vitality, whereas Asura’s is best for it’s regeneration after you have them leveled. The better regen foods really do pack a punch. Same story on thralls. Level them with the +stat food of your choice, and then feed them for the best heal per second food you can manage.

When you increase agility, it's protecting your vitality since it effects armor value. So your getting a twofer by going agility. It's just not so noticeable on the vitality.
