They're carburetors without jets. It looks like you adjust a needle for the each circuit from the outside instead of tearing in to the carb every time to make adjustments. I've seen them on some pretty high end custom bikes. Its $800 for a DRZ kit and comes with a single cable throttle and G2 aluminum throttle tube.

The carbs have been used by a few very high level off road guys in events such as the ISDE as far back as 20 years ago. They are $300 and available and very easy to tune and don't need fiddling. I'm a new owner of a 2001 DRZ400S with 12,000 miles. I'd appreciate some feedback on configuring the carb for my location, and what I want from the bike. Here are the facts (the bike came from New York state.): 1. Mikuni carb. 2. 3x3 mod done (previous owner) 3. Stock pipe and muffler, with end tip damaged and restrictor removed (previous owner)That carb is not configured correctly to directly install into a 2003 DRZ400E model regardless of what the seller states. You need to look for a DRZ E model specific FCR 39 slant body replica carb like this one if you are in the U.S.;

2 strokes is what Lectron do best. Yes the YZ is the perfect bike for a Lectron to work well. DRZ's don't do so well with that type of carburetor. Not needed. Most people here that have tried the Lectron on a DRZ soon find the deficiencies and opt for the Keihen FCR carburetor that the performance version of the bike came with.

The WR starts one push of the button no matter what temp, elevation, or if it’s been dropped, whereas I had a lot of carb trouble with my old DRZ in the 3 years I’ve owned it. Loved everything else about the bike though. So that brings me to Lectron with how they automatically adjust for all that with their metering rods. Went from a stock carb on my Drz400 to a lectron thanks to some paid advertising YouTube influencer.. the carb worked but after riding my friends with a fcr39mm I couldn't deal with bottom end power loss from the lectron carb. Compared to the Lectron and the FCR the smart carb is similar price. I am not so much looking for huge performance gains by burning more gas. Smart carb is also for 4 strokes. I am thinking of just doing a JD Jet kit on the 36mm mikuni carb and seeing how it runs. Then eventually getting the Smart Carb.

Fuel should only flow with the motor running/cranking, if you still have the stock fuel petcock. Turn the fuel valve to prime, and see if the fuel runs out of the overflow tube. The DRZ guys are taking them off thier 400's when nearly new and selling them for $50 to $75 bucks. A CV type carb somewhat compensates for the elevation change due to vacuum perting the needle and the larger bore may permit a 'deeper breath' by the engine.Any mods to the DRZ400 won't make it a firebreather, but you'll definitely notice the difference with a full (not just a slip-on) aftermarket exhaust and well jetted FCR or CVK, and even the JD kitted stock BSR36.
