Not trying to suggest that the entire population in the Appalachian mountains are inbreds, I'm talking about the more remote mountainous areas. The stereotypical hillbillies if you will. But stereotypes often do contain a bit of truth, and there's no doubt that the mutational load in Appalachian population is higher than in the general population.
