On my 13.7" PW 5.56 JAKL with FDE coating, from the top of the picatinny rail to the top of the end of the JMAC muzzle device it's just shy of 1 16/64" - very close to 1 1/4". From the rail top to the bottom of the muzzle device it's just shy of 2 1/64". So, from the rail top to the middle of the barrel should be the average of those ...The Short barrel is near optimal for 300 BO, while still being a manageable length with suppressor.
