I have a 1965 289 with a 2 barrel carburetor and the throttle spring is broken. However, I do not think it was setup properly by the former owner. The broken spring was attached to an L bracket at front of the intake manifold. I have the correct spring, but there is no way it will stretch from the front of the manifold to the carburetor.First we punch it out using the 1″ leather punch. Then a 1/2″ punch makes the center hole. We placed the flapper air valve in the carburetor to start the reassembly process. Next we installed the flapper air valve's pivot. This Jeep belonged to a local fire department and was used for brush fires and parades since new. It only has 5000 miles on it. I kind of inherited the job of putting the carb back together.
