Weighing in at 7.45 lbs on my scale, the Mesa weighs a little more than the advertised 7.3 lbs. I would have liked to see it in the 6 to 6.5 lb range. The other negative, in my opinion, is the radial muzzle brake. Also I am talking Tikka T3, the light ones. I have not handled anything else. The T3 stock is a lot different than the newer T3x stock. I tried the vertical grip and the wide forend. Okay on the range from a bench rest, but out in the field the grip is too fat to be comfortable especially with gloves on. Ok, take my opinions with the following consideration: I am an admitted Sako/Tikka fan. My current 308 long range rig is built on a Tikka T3 that has been refitted with a Krieger barrel and XLR chassis. I don't like the proprietary mag thing, but otherwise the Tikka chassis rifles are good to go. Seen plenty at matches and they seem to be solid.

Locally new Mesa was 1250 and I believe Tikka was 800 something. So I told myself get over it, and buy the Tikka. I found a used Mesa for $850. I have read they are heavier than they claim. But for 300 that might not be awful. I really like the narrower grip stock, and the feel of the Mesa.
