I have what I think is an old police revolver. The barrel is 5 and 7/8 inches long from the front of the cylinder. It is a six shot, and the cylinder opens from the side. On the side of the barrel it says "38 S&W SPECIAL CTG". The grips are checkered wood with a bronze round insignia in the top of each.If they're real and not damaged they're pretty valuable by themselves. The stamp on the barrel identifies the caliber as ".38 S&W Special Cartridge" (the CTG is abbreviation for the word cartridge).
