As has been mentioned, the KimPro finish can be okay or not so good. I purchased a used Super Carry Ultra that had obvious dings and scratches on the slide finish. Sent it to the Mothership for a complete rebuild, including a slide refinish. Cost for the refinish: $110 for what now looks to be a brand new slide. Nice.

I kept my Glocks as I like the platform but those damm 1911's keep calling me back. For the money in a carry gun, the CDP is the better buy, unless you can find an Ultra TLE II. Checkering and night sights for under $1k. I have an Ultra Carry, and the Compact CDP. Difference in size being the lenggth of the barrell. They both have a shorter grip than a standard 45, which makes them easier to conceal. Barrel length is not really a concern if you're talking about concealability. Grip length is. accuracy is as good as you'll find on any gun. Feb 3, 2013 · Weight is not an issue with a good holster and belt set up. Without the right gear, you are going to have carry problems regardless of whether the frame is aluminum alloy or steel. As for caliber, I personally prefer the .45 ACP. With the right mags, the Pro Carry II 9mm is fine; however, it's not for me.
