Look at PR #12736, which re-enables support for the W5500 with esp-idf v5.x. Tested with a generic ESP32 device and esp-idf v5.0.2. The changes are not device-specific. So it should work with an esp32S3 as well. esp-idf v5.0.2 is the version used for MicroPython at the moment.
