Shilen barrel review.
Shilen makes great quality barrels, but not because the rifling style. The performance comes from good quality blanks with sharp tooling, good quality control, so on, so on. The ratchet rifling is marketing. Maybe it makes a difference, but it's not enough of a difference for a mere mortal like myself to notice. Straight Shooter.

It likes std and supers. Have shot some really good groups with Remington Subs, it did not like those before at full length.Jan 15, 2011 · Anyway my 10/22 with the ER shaw barrel shot .850 center to center at 75m. and my CZ452 shot .6 center to center. Both were 10 shot groups. My CZ has a 1.5lb trigger weight and was outfitted with a leupold 3-10 mk4 m3. The 10/22 has a 4-16 pst which is a bit washed out and breaks at almost 5 pounds.

With my tested lot of Center-X,RimX/Shilen is comparable to Vudoo/Ace at 50 yards. I've shot a few groups at 100 which showed promise (multiple 5-shot groups with 3 rounds in 1/2" followed by 1-2 fliers 3/4" or more away), but 1029fps is too slow to shoot PRS matches with targets at 400 yards.The basic principles just outlined apply to all the calibers below. If you are still unsure or need a recommendation we recommend contacting a bullet maker, they do the testing to determine what twist rate will best stabalize their bullets.
