If you craft "the best" army you can f1-f3 and win even battles with practically 0 losses without thinking, isn't a great time outside of maybe your first playthrough. For example, I've been running an infantry only Vlandia campaign with no bowman allowed, only ranged units are crossbows.

In terms of general archers obviously Battannian Fians are the best by far. The Aserai Master Archers are the best non-noble archer unit, followed by Imperial Palantine guards, mainly due to the fact they only have 1 quiver of arrows while the Aserai has 2.
